Interstates

Jefferson County is located at the intersection of Interstates 40 and 81 and offers easy access to Interstate 75. All this places Jefferson County within a day's drive of half the nations's population.

Airports

McGhee-Tyson Airport, located just south of Knoxville, is approximately 45 minute drive from Jefferson County. It is served by Continental, Delta, Northwest, TWA, United and USAir with commuter service available from American Eagle and Comair. About one hour's drive north of Jefferson County is the Tri-City Regional Airport with jet service by USAir. Commuter service is available from Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), Comair and USAir Express.

The immediate area is served by Morristown Municipal Airport, which is a genral aviator facility. The runway is 5,700 feet long and 100 feet wide. The facility is attended daylight to dark. It has aviation gas and jet-fuel facilities and several non-precision approach systems.

Motor Freight

Four motor freight companies serve Jefferson County. Terminal facilities are located in the Dandridge and White Pine areas. Seventy percent of American markets are accessible theough second day motor freight service. Jefferson County is home to the major hub for Old Dominion.

Rail Service

Jefferson County is served by the Norfolk/Southern Railroad. Piggy-back service is available in Jefferson City and White Pine. Rail freight delivery time from Jefferson City features second morning delivery to much of the Eastern U.S. and four day delivery to 70% of America's markets.
